National Parks Posters

Developed

WPA National Park Poster Paintings

The landscape has become a recreational resource, n ature a commodity and the McMansion an epidemic that devours beautiful places. These paintings explore the development of National Parks into recreational and commercial facilities.

Using iconographic images of National Parks as symbols of untouchable nature, the works will juxtapose human infrastructure and recreation on these natural wonders. Displaying alternative uses for America’s natural splendor.

The series is part of a larger series that will explore the development of the National Parks. For example, transforming Yellow Stone into a waterpark, Yosemite into a quarry, Bryce canyon into a casino, Shenandoah into suburban sprawl, the National Grass Lands into a golf course, and so on and so forth.

These works informed the exhibition National Parks Development
